Our Red Carpet Moment.....

Our Red Carpet Affair was a complete success!

Since Aidan didn't get to finish the movie in time for a screening, we went ahead with the red carpet celebration and just had a preview shown on the computer.

We laid out the red carpet ( two orange yoga mats ) and the girls put on their party dresses....with Aidan wearing her mom's prom dress.  Aidan did their makeup and hair. We all got into the fun by pretending we were the paparazzi , taking pictures and interviewing the girls and asking for their autographs.

I found coral rocks on the beach and made necklaces for each girl awarding them the "best actress award" and for Aidan, a big rock as "best director, screenwriter, cinematographer, make up artist, costume designer, and editor."

In the midst of all the activity.....

We've decided to add PINK to the doors and eves of the house!
Not really pink....much more ORCHID, I would say.  Orchid and periwinkle blue, with yellow window trim against a sagey green house.  It works for me!  In Hawaii you can shout your colors outloud and the flowers will nod their heads in agreement.

The production continues......

Every day the girls get into their costumes......made up of my old fabrics....silk velvets, laces, chiffon scarves, beads and shells gathered from my art room....and they go off with Aidan leading, into the banyan forest or onto the beach for the filming of her movie "Nixies".
She has realized that she won't get the film edited and ready for showing before they all leave here, so tonite the girls are all getting dressed up in fancy dresses for a "red carpet" walk and a preview of the movie.  We have made cupcakes and jiggily jello pieces and it will be an affair to remember.  Now I'm off to find something that will become the red carpet.

Painting and faerie ears.....

The sun has been hiding from us, so into the studio we go.....painting pictures of flowers and blue skies........

Aidan, our 14 year old, is directing, producing and writing a movie...starring the little ones.
Oh, and doing the costume design too, which evidently includes faerie and elves.....
Can you see the tips of their ears?   The perfect use of a band aid!

They've arrived!

Mornings start early......although the rule is that they can't come into the main house until they see the kitchen light on.  I hear ramblings around 6AM.

First one little one...then another.....and another....and before you know it, the energy has risen to a force that could probably light up Honolulu.
My daughters decided that our living room needed a change....which seemed like a good idea to me so at this moment, it is a complete mess.  Fortunately, all three of them are really proficient at using a drill, redoing cables, moving sofas and such, so I just sit and direct.

It's fun here in Kawela Bay.  Crazy fun!

Here Kitty Kitty.....

Years....and years and years...ago, we had a kitty, here in Hawaii, that we called Kamaiana Kitty.
Kamaiana in Hawaiian means "local"...or one who has lived in Hawaii for a long time.

One day Kamaiana was gone.  She just disappeared.  We live in a little gated community, so it's not like she would have gotten out on the highway, but whatever happened....she was gone.

Well......2 weeks ago I heard a "meow" at our door and there was a skinny calico cat, with a weary, dirty face looking up at me.   What could I do but put out a dish of cottage cheese for her?  And then after buying some cans of cat food, she came inside to eat. And she has stayed.

Is this our Kamaiana Kitty who has returned to us??   I can't say for sure.
I don't remember her exact markings that well, but this cat is soooo comfortable in our home. She now comes in and out of the cat door which had been closed for so many years, and is now wide open again.  Our dog Kapuna just ignores her like she has lived here forever.
Of course I had to buy her a purple collar with a bell, which she accepts completely, and a little mouse kitty toy.  She is now getting nice and plump and her coat is shiny and her face all clean.

I choose to believe that Kamaiana Kitty has returned to us.
I choose to believe in miracles.... and this is one for sure.
