Keeper of the Flame.....

A thought....a hazy vision....some clay, some tools, fabric, mosaic tiles.....a new piece appears. What is her story?

in her hand she holds a tiny half egg that I found in the forest.  I sealed it, preserved it, reinforced it, painted, and embellished it and attached a flame.  Perhaps she is saying that within us all lies the flame of creation, of transformation, of new beginnings....

When I am inspired and working on a piece it feels like I am being moved by an energy that I can't stop.....I work fast....like I'm on a river that is rushing and carrying me forward.

It's a great feeling....but I'm kind of "spent" at the end of the day......

I'm trying to create this Hawaiian Goddess of the Ocean to be of, or within, a wave.....a wave created with abalone shards, shells and mirrored glass tiles...

This is the base of the wave....

Her Haku is made of coral pieces and tiny bead work.

New Online Class...Creating The Art of Balance!

Opps........

Well, I had an idea to put a wax coating on my vampire's head.......but

I only had beeswax .......and now she looks like she has yellow jaundice!! 

Lesson learned....beeswax doesn't work unless you are creating a bee.

Hopefully the wax will melt off when I put the head back into the oven. 

and then I'll do something else......I don't have a clue what though........

Crowning Glories.......

I received a request recently to put together an online class on creating head dresses....head pieces....crowning glories.  I love creating this part of an art doll.  Here are some crowning glories that I've created in the past.  I think the class should be ready by next week.  I've come up with three different designs....Spring Bouquet, Midnite Sky, and Goddess Crown.  The class will feature step by step instructions and tons of photos that illustrate the steps so that all three of these head dresses can be easily put together.  Let me know if you might be interested.
