What would you say......?

My 15 yr. old grand daughter asked this of me........

"..... i was thinking, if i could give advice to the twelve year old me i would have loved to. but i cant, its impossible so i was wondering, what advice would you have given your 15-16 year old self?
if you could come back in time to leave a letter, what would it say? honestly?"

Interesting question..... :)

I'm wondering ...what would you say? Even if it's just one line....I'm really interested in what you would say to your 15 yr. old self.

I would definitely tell her not to rush each stage of life, enjoy and revel in the moment as time passes much too quickly! I'd also tell her to stop criticizng her young thin body because menopause and the years will rob her of that soon enough.

I would tell myself to follow my heart and do not listen to the conditioned pressure of school, job, marriage, etc...

Very interesting question.

I think I would tell myself to seize each day, to make every moment count. At that age, you think you have forever - heck, 25 seems "old", but it goes by so quickly. And also, to be true to yourself in all things.

I've thought about this before. I would tell myself to slow down, that I don't know as much as I think I do, and that what I do now with school work and decisions will affect the opportunities of the rest of my life. Do you think I would listen to myself? ...um, probably not...I probably knew too much....

Finish college! And major in History! And be a history teacher!

Be afraid of nothing - don't be somebody else for anybody - tell the truth about yourself, especially to yourself.

Learn the value of a good extra-dry-Sapphire-Bombay-martini-with-extra-olives before graduating from college...and read all those big thick classics before you're old and your eyes tire easily.

Dear Self,
Stop worrying. Someone will actually love you (other than your parents silly you) for who you are. Just hang in there. Really. Stop giving me that look! Oh... and definitely take that sculpting class. It's worth it.

Missing you from Florida, Marilyn. We studied sea turtles in my language arts class and I shared my hawaii photos of the turtles on your beach with them.

Mmmm, don't wish and rush your life away because you will someday wish you had savored every minute longer.

I would say "have courage and follow your soul and your passions, devote all your efforts in doing what you love, and in studying to achieve it. Never let other people convince you to walk on their way."

I would say, "Run away right now. It isn't going to get better here."

Embrace all the chances you have to learn, meet new people, see and do new things... appreciate those who love you...and listen to your heart.

Marilyn I have loved your work for a long time...and have left you a little award on my blog if you have time to collect it.
